GYEO is looking forward to a number of gigs this year but ‘The Specials’ is one that’s really close to the top of the list! We can’t wait!

Although it does seem criminal that founder and song-writer Jerry Dammers is not involved but problems between Terry Hall and Jerry Dammers don’t seem to have healed with time. That’s a true shame.

The fact that Dammers is not going to be involved dilutes the thing for the purist… but once in a venue, with a few beers down you – no doubt it’s the songs that matter most…and the golden era of ska was dominated by quality Specials tracks.

GYEO sees Terry Hall quite frequently as he’s an avid Manchester United fan and follows them home and away. Even surrounded by football fans that grew up on The Specials music he’s a very under-stated guy – it seems a man difficult to fall out with? But what do we know? The inner workings and dynamics of a band are a strange thing!

Jerry Dammers recently talked in length with Uncut Magazine and there is a great article that gives insight into his head at least, well worth a read for Specials fans.
