Well if you didn’t need telling it’s Glastonbury this weekend!
Although the festival has become far more corporate (if that’s the right word) in recent years, with the days of thousands climbing over the fence and that edgy festival vibe gone, there is still part of the festival that showcases bands most won’t have heard of which is still pretty cool and dare we say maintaining some of the original ‘Glasto’ ethos…
Whatever the cynics think this is pretty damn cool for one of the most prestigious festivals in the world, don’t you think! And the BBC, yes the dear old BBC, can take those plaudits as their stage offers the line-up of unsigned talent from across the UK playing the BBC Introducing Stage. If you didn’t know here’s some bands to check:
So on stage Friday 26th June will be Sparrow and the Workshop, The Heroes, Cashier no 9, Colorama, Two Door Cinema Club, Louise Golbey, Engine Earz and KOF.
The following day, that’s Saturday 27th if you need telling (and you probably will if you’re there on the day!) will see Kidbass, 10k Runner, The Alfonz, Rogues, Speech Debelle, Vienna Ditto, King Charles & Goldheart Assembly take the stage.
Finally Sunday sees performances from Life in Film, The 1, 2, 3, 4s, Andreya Triana, Dimbleby & Capper, Essay Like Nephew, Fists, Kobi Onyame and States of Emotion.
Now we know most of these acts will have reached a worthy career peak by hitting the Glastonbury stage to only slip back into relative musical obscurity but go check them out if you can…support you’re up and coming musicians!
