Elbow…Lost Gear, LA & Letterman

Elbow played an intimate gig in LA last night and they didn’t even have their own instruments to play!

That’s right, with the band in the City of Angels and their equipment somewhere over the Atlantic at the time, the Manchester outfit still won the plaudits of punters and reporters alike…they did use some other band’s instruments however!

The NME’s LA correspondent ‘waxed lyrically’ dropping copy about the crowd shouts of “I Love you Guy” which we thought was shouted at any US gig - into the copy of their report on the show.

Apparently Guy was charming those lovely LALA-Land peeps with hand shakes…if you were in the front row at least…it seems the show was a big hit but that’s no surprise after checking their recent gigs in Manchester.

As Elbow do their thing Stateside they are set to play the famous Letterman show next week (July 29th to be precise) and have less intimate, more lucrative stadium gigs planned too of course!

It has been non-stop for the band lately with a pretty special gig with the also famous Halle Orchestra in Manchester’s fantastic Bridgewater Hall as part of the Manchester International Festival just behind them - it’s that soothing rendition of ‘Scattered Black and Whites’ that we’re linking to on You Tube.

Check out Elbow doing something different with the Halle!
